CINNAMON GOAT CHEESE  04.30.2011

Beka and i came here to Vegas because our friends were getting married (she’s one of the bridesmaids) and it was probably the best wedding i’ve ever been to. the venue was beautiful, the food was good and the company was excellent. Beka even caught the bouquet.

congratulations, Nikki and Neil!

i’m finally heading back to Kabul again at the end of May so i’ve been taking care of a few things like ordering some last minute equipment and getting my Afghan visa taken care of.

it’s been three years since i last left the graveyard of empires and i’ve been eager to get my hands dirty again, so to speak. it’s my opinion that Afghanistan is one of the last “honest” places left on earth, a country where things get boiled down to basics and you only sweat the stuff that really matters. it’s a shame that it seems so easy for people in industrialized nations to forget or perhaps never even know what that feels like.

a few weeks ago, i was stuck in South Loop traffic behind a silver SUV with the name and URL of an art gallery on the rear window. well, i met with the owners yesterday to discuss what i do and the overall marketability of my work and the response was pretty positive. that said, i think we’re going to try and get my first proper show up and running sometime this summer, the proceeds from which will go towards funding my work as a humanitarian photographer.

that’s all i have to report for now but i’ll be sure to keep my blog updated as things gradually unfold :)

GARLIC BREAD FIRST  04.26.2011

the bad news:
i got caught out in today’s rainstorm and got totally soaked

the good news:
i ducked out of the rain and into the welcome arms of a rib and chicken dinner at Mr. Greek’s

BOOKWORM SUPREME  04.25.2011

sometimes Beka and i like wasting time doing stupid things like playing BookWorm, a Boggle-type game where you have to form words from adjacent tiles. well, after months and months on the same “life,” Beka and i finally succumbed by the relentless onslaught of flaming tiles.

but not before we nearly breached the five million point mark :)

SAMURAI BREAKFAST  04.23.2011

feeling much better today which is awesome because i don’t think i could stand another day locked in my head while the room slowly spins around me. anyway, fingers crossed that things stay peachy.

A TOILET IN A TAXI  04.22.2011

i was supposed to wake up early and take my father to the doctor’s office this morning but ended up not being able to because i woke up feeling extremely dizzy. i blame my poor arrangement (or lack thereof) of the buckwheat pillow i slept on last night; left unshaped, an errant protrusion must have tweaked my neck funny or something.
