the final for AD102 was due today so we all tacked up our projects in the studio hallway and had a big ol’ critique. somewhere in the middle of it, an obviously homeless, shaggy-haired man (whom i had seen earlier washing his face in the bathroom) reeking of alcohol pushed his way through the group and began raving about the drawing in front of him.

“this…is reality,” he proclaimed. then he started talking about how he was “yo daddy and yo uncle’s age” and how he had just wandered into the building. after almost five minutes non-stop drunken ramble, the man stumbled away and (presumably) out the back door.

words cannot describe the grief that’s threatening to burst the seams of my heart right now. it hurts much more than i ever thought it could.

life sure is a big crock of shit sometimes.

rest in peace, Gizmo. try not to chew up too many power cables in heaven.

i am easily distracted by shiny objects.

i think it’s borderline disgusting that i’m using the same substance i flavor tacos with to clean grimy subway tokens. then again, i drink the stuff that fills toilet tanks and eat undeveloped chicken embryos so i guess it’s not so bad.

i posted my first blog entry three years ago today at the suggestion of my old roommate Will. before this, my (poorly constructed) website actually had a bit of content. nowadays, i have a (slightly) better design and absolutely no other content besides what you poor saps force yourselves to read whenever you come waltzing about. weird, huh?

the sad thing is, not a whole lot has changed since 11/25/01. i still walk around taking pictures (though nowadays i have better equipment), Bush is still president and my bitter distaste for school remains…

…HUMAN REMAINS!

it appears that the evil snow demons have regrouped and caught us with our pants down! curse those wily snow demons! burn them all!

so they’re FINALLY making a film based on The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy!!! i’m so stoked!!!

of course, the movie is most likely never going to meet my expectations and will become a miserable failure in my eyes. for the next six months, however, it’ll be absolutely awesome.

after watching the teaser and going through the concept art, the one thing that kind of bothers me is their rendering of Marvin, the manic depressive robot.

i don’t know about the rest of youse, but i always pictured Marvin as a Johnny Five/Bender hybrid with twice the angst and none of the determination.

but nobody cares what i think so why bother? all i’m good for around here is opening doors anyway.
